OPEN: Digital examinations
The OPEN system (Management and planning of digital assessments and examinations) allows paperless management of examinations on computers or tablets and all the management tasks linked to these examinations. It is based on a web technology to be used with a browser. No software installation is needed.

Management and planning of digital assessments and examinations


Before the exam:

Users access the interface according to their access level (Administrator, School administration head, School administration staff, Teacher, Examination invigilator, Student).

• Modeling of the different training courses (Bachelor, Master, ...).

• Modeling of seating arrangement in the examination rooms:
Possibility to adjust several parameters that affect the assignment of a seat/computer to a student for an exam:
- Make a seat unavailable (in the attribution process)
- Make a seat as spare computer (only used in case of problem)
- Indicate which positions are suitable for people with reduced mobility

• Planning the exam:
Date & hours, head teachers, invigilators, allocated rooms, ...
Our system is linked to your student management softwares to retrieve their data. It adds the possibility to manage the students with handicap.

• Preparation of an examination:
Lot of time saving for the school administration team.
The school administration team head gives to students their seat using several options: spacing between candidates, random or alphabetical assignment of candidates, mixing of multiple exam candidates in the same room, ...
Afterwards, it is possible in 1 click to download/print in PDF format all documents necessary for the preparation of the examination that were previously done by hand:
- Attendance sheets for each room
- Poster of students seats at room entrance
- Pre-filled records sheets

• Exam design:
The teachers design their exam themselves using a dedicated interface. They make their questions on-line using the available question types, add media, give a marking scheme and put the questions together to create the exam. Instructions can also be added for the exam itself (calculator, draft sheets, audio system, headphone, authorised documents, ...).
The system can import questions from external tools (e.g.: Moodle or Scenari) and also share exams between users.



During the exam:

Students connect the dedicated exam page. A countdown is displayed before the start of the exam.
The time of the exam start and end are closely synchronised between each computer and each room. Exams can easily be planned in several cities or countries/continents simultaneously (over hundred students can connect an exam session).

Exam can contain several question types: multiple choice, multiple responses, extended matching, fill-in the blank, hotspot, writting question, video, files to complete, ...

During the exam, invigilators and school administration team have access to a monitoring interface. It gives a quick access to all running exams, students presents/absents, students with handicap, progress of scores, exam completed, ...
A chat is also available to quickly identify and solve a problem without moving from a room/office to another.

After the exam:

At the end of the examination, the results, automatically calculated, are available in an Excel format. All the electronic student papers are also available in PDF format. It is possible to adjust the marking after the examination for one or all the questions in one time (marking scheme, correction type, question deletion).

If the exam contains written questions, a module is available to teachers for an online correction (student by student or question by question with progression statistics).

Several statistics (and charts) concerning exam results are generated instantly on the fly at the end of the exam (learning analytics): average, median, min/max, standard deviation, effective duration of the examination for the student, ... A summary of student responses is also generated (interesting educational tool for teachers, this allows for example, to bring out a topic that would not have been understood by students).

Concerning exam supervision, a dashboard of invigilation hours for each staff member is available with the ability to manage an annual quota.

After teacher's agreement, students will have access to their exam in a review mode via a dedicated interface as interactive annals of exams.

The OPUS system (University management and planning of internships) is an extension of the OPEN system to dematerialise the management of internships:
  • Online creation by students and companies of dematerialised internship agreements with electronic signatures.
  • Statistical analyses to adapt the internship offers to the market (geographical distribution, keyword cloud, ...).
  • Creation of online evaluation forms with multilingual grids for internship tutors.
  • Appointment Management System, used to organise visits to host institutions.
Since 2017: 2,420 interships were managed through the OPUS system.



Finally, we can add additional modules to the questions bank of the e-examinations to vary and adapt teaching methods. For example, the creation of Serious Games associated with learning analytics (analysis of success percentage per student or question, time spent in game, hi-score challenge, ...):
